Single-Bottle Wine Gift Boxes

Because a single-bottle wine gift box turns one bottle into a gift, it's the format wineries, corporate gifting teams and gift companies ask about most. The box has two jobs: hold the bottle without movement, and make the first impression count when the lid comes off. That first moment is what your customer remembers.

What matters is how the bottle sits, how the magnet or closure feels, and how well the colour and finish match your brand, because you don't need a big box to make a bottle feel considered. We go through what to choose on this page. Plus we cover what we control in production, and the questions buyers ask us before they order.

How to choose the right single-bottle box

The insert has to be cut for the exact bottle shape, so start with the bottle, because a Burgundy, Bordeaux or sparkling bottle has different shoulders. We ask for the bottle dimensions or a sample bottle. If you're not sure, send us photos with a ruler next to the bottle; that beats guessing, and it avoids a box that fits one bottle but not yours.

Next, think about the unboxing. A rigid lid-and-base box with a magnetic closure feels heavier and more premium than a foldable box, but a foldable box ships flat and stores flat, which matters if your team assembles boxes on site or sends them out to retail stores. Leather and wooden boxes are the high end. They cost accordingly.

You don't need to over-specify. A 750ml bottle doesn't need a double-bottle sized box with extra padding; that just adds cost and makes the bottle rattle unless we add more insert material. The cleanest single-bottle box is snug, with four points of contact and no unsupported neck or shoulder. Finish matches your label or brand colours.

Buyer questions

Can I get a single-bottle box that also fits a slightly larger bottle?

The insert is cut for the bottle you specify, so give us the exact bottle dimensions or send a sample. If you need to fit two similar bottle shapes, we can design a slightly deeper box with a two-position insert. The fit won't be as snug as a box made for one bottle, though.

What is the difference between a rigid box and a foldable box for one bottle?

Before anything else, what makes the rigid box's lid and base keep their shape is that they're pre-formed and that stays true through use. It feels more premium as a result, and it suits high-end gifts. A foldable box is different: you assemble it on site after it ships flat, and that's why it costs less to ship and store, but the unboxing feel isn't as heavy. Both can use a magnetic closure.

How do you make sure the colour of the box matches my brand?

Pantone matching is what we use and, before the full run, we send you a first-article approval. Samples are taken mid-run too. What's hardest to hold across a large batch, though? Black, deep blue and burgundy. We pay extra attention to those. Send us your Pantone reference if you're working with a brand colour.

What we control when we make this box

For heavier bottles or spirits, we recommend 1400 g greyboard, but we start with greyboard at 1200 g minimum. The facing paper is 157 g minimum, specialty or coated. We don't use recycled greyboard or high-moisture paper; keeping the box from warping or softening in humid conditions matters when a gift box sits in a cellar or a warehouse before it's handed over.

The insert is the part that fails most often. We hold it to a tight control tolerance: plus or minus 1 mm on the insert, plus or minus 2 mm on the box body. The bottle has to be held at four points, with no unsupported neck or shoulder. Our in-house checks include a ten-second shake test, a 45-degree tilt, and an inversion test. If there's any bottle movement, the insert is recut before the box goes anywhere. For foldable boxes, the creases must not crack when the box is erected, and the corners must sit at 90 degrees. Magnet position is held to plus or minus 1 mm. Colour is controlled with Pantone matching, first-article approval and mid-run sampling, and since black, deep blue and burgundy are the hardest to hold across a batch, we watch those closely.
