Double-bottle wine gift boxes do their best work quietly, in premium gifting. Corporate events, winery tasting rooms, holiday promotions. One bottle feels thin. Three feels like a commitment. The two-bottle format gives you room for a story, even if the box has to survive a courier van loaded three times before it reaches the customer, and still open cleanly at the other end. Because two vintages, a red and a white, or a bottle plus a pair of glasses, give the buyer something to talk about.
We make these boxes in rigid cardboard, leather, wood-look finishes, and foldable structures. But the right choice depends on how the box will be handled, not just how it looks on a screen. A rigid magnetic box feels substantial in the hand, yes, but it costs more to ship. A foldable double-bottle mailer is lighter and cheaper to freight. It still presents well if the creases are controlled properly. We walk through that trade-off with you before you commit.
How to Choose
Start with the bottle dimensions, not the box. Burgundy and Bordeaux shapes sit differently. A box that fits one may rattle with the other. If you are packing two different bottle shapes in the same box, say so early. Send us the bottle sample or the exact height, diameter, and shoulder profile, because we build the insert around those numbers, and that changes the insert design.
Next, decide how the box will be opened. A lid-and-base rigid box is the classic unboxing moment, while a drawer box slides out and feels more like a presentation case. A double-door box opens like a cabinet, and it works well for heavier bottles. To keep the lid from sitting crooked, we set magnet position to plus or minus 1 mm, since magnetic closures add perceived value but need correct placement.
Then think about what else goes inside. A two-bottle box often carries a corkscrew, a stopper, or two glasses, and those items need their own cavities, and they add weight. The insert has to hold everything at four points minimum for the bottles, with no unsupported neck or shoulder. If you want a bag included, tell us whether it is paper, felt, or canvas, because that changes the box depth.

Can you make a double-bottle box that also holds two wine glasses?
Yes. We design the insert with separate cavities for the bottles and the glasses. The bottle rule still applies: each bottle is held at four points with no unsupported neck or shoulder. The glasses get their own cutouts, usually in EVA foam or velvet tray material. You get a whole set checked with the drop test and vibration simulation before shipping.
What is the difference between a rigid box and a foldable box for two bottles?
Pre-assembled, with its greyboard walls and wrapped finish, a rigid box feels heavier and premium. It ships as a box. Which means freight costs more. But a foldable box ships flat, and you erect it before packing. Because the creases are controlled, they will not crack, and the magnet position holds to plus or minus 1 mm. Foldable is the better bet when the boxes must travel to multiple locations.
How do I know the bottles will not move during shipping?
Your bottle dimensions drive the insert cut, and it happens to a tolerance of plus or minus 1 mm. Once that's done, the loaded box drops from 1.2 m on all six faces, bears a 40 kg top load for 24 hours in stacking, and rides through a vibration simulation. If the bottle shifts or the insert deforms, we recut and retest. Before every shipment you get the same checks as standard.
What We Control
We build the box body from greyboard at 1200 g minimum, and we recommend 1400 g for double-bottle boxes because the load is heavier. The facing paper is 157 g minimum specialty or coated stock. We do not use recycled greyboard or high-moisture paper, as a two-bottle box with a thin board will bow under its own weight, and the corners will soften after a few handlings. The insert is cut to hold each bottle at four points. We check that the neck and shoulder are supported. No unsupported neck.
Our control tolerance is plus or minus 1 mm on the insert and plus or minus 2 mm on the box body. For foldable double-bottle boxes, the creases must not crack when folded, the magnet position is held to plus or minus 1 mm, and the corners sit at 90 degrees when erected. Color is matched to Pantone references, with first-article approval and mid-run sampling. Black, deep blue, and burgundy are the hardest to hold across a run. Those, we sample more often. Before packing, we run a 1.2 m six-face drop test with bottles loaded, stacking top load of 40 kg or more for 24 hours, and truck and sea vibration simulation. But if the bottle moves inside after those, we re-cut the insert.
